“I grew up in a really rural part of South Carolina and often felt lost growing up. My mother would always tell me to ‘be good at one thing, and do it well’ but I couldn’t figure out what that would be. A good friend in college introduced me to print-making. There must’ve been some innate connection to seeing your artwork quite literally be transferred onto something, because I felt in that moment this ‘YES’. Now, print-making is one medium of many where illustrations can be and I think that vastness is what makes it so exciting. The difference in canvas will affect the texture of print and evoke different reactions. That’s quite poetic to me.”
